Ahmet Savaşan: Despite the revenge tourism, 2019 will only be caught

President of Cyprus Health Tourism Council, Deputy Dr. Ahmet Savaşan participated in the Berlin International Tourism and Travel Fair (ITB Berlin), which has guided tourism with its history of more than half a century and brought together 5,500 participants from 161 countries this year. He said that they aim for Northern Cyprus to achieve a 50% increase in health tourism revenues and a 20% increase in employment in 2023, thanks to the activities of the warring council on the international platform and the newly created digital platform with the Health North Cyprus brand.

Cyprus Health Tourism Council participated in the world’s largest tourism fair ITB Berlin which was not held face-to-face for the last three years due to the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Under the umbrella of the TRNC Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment,  a stand was established for Cyprus Health Tourism in a special area this year, represented Northern Cyprus in the Medical Tourism department, and introduced the medical services offered by its members.

WE ARE WORKİNG TO İNCREASE THE SHARE WE GET FROM HEALTH TOURİSM…

Pointing out that the share of Health Tourism in overall global tourism expenditures has increased, Council President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan emphasized that they are working to get Northern Cyprus a significant share from this big industry, which is estimated to grow by 25 percent in the next ten years and have a volume of billions of dollars.

NEW AGREEMENTS WERE MADE WİTH MORE THAN 20 COUNTRİES…

Within the scope of ITB Berlin contacts, President Savaşan met with the Republic of Turkey Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, TR Berlin Ambassador Ahmet Başar Şen, TRNC Berlin Representative Ambassador Beniz Uluer Kaymak, TURSAB Chairman Firuz Bağlıkaya, as well as representatives of more than 20 countries and many press members. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan said, “During the meetings we held in Berlin, we introduced our health services to the representatives of the countries and our stakeholders. Our health services are offered by combining touristic richness in comfortable hospitals and clinics under the most advanced conditions and services provided by the specialist physicians using the most advanced technology medical devices and up-to-date information, without waiting period. Thanks to the connections we have established and the new agreements we have made, we foresee that more health tourists will come to Northern Cyprus in 2023, especially from Germany.”

Noting that the platform will start digital marketing activities in selected areas such as dentistry and physical therapy, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan said, “Our goal is to promote and market the health tourism products offered in Northern Cyprus much more effectively, thanks to the studies carried out by our council on the international platform and the digital health tourism platform that we first introduced at ITB Berlin, and we aim to achieve 50% inrease in health tourism revenues and 20% increase in employment in 2023.”
